how do we approach dream interpretation?

biblically

Every time we interpret our dreams, we use the Bible as the foundation for our process. This includes the ways and precepts of God, as well as the examples of the dreams and visions given in the Word. Though many symbols and situations within dreams will not be included in Scripture, the principles and ways of God will always be in agreement if the dream is coming from Him.

If the dream is coming from the soul, we can use the Word to address the issue and align our soul back to the truth of Christ. For demonic dreams, the Word of God is our weapon, which we use to call out and forbid those attacks coming against us or our loved ones.

Holy Spirit-led

The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, and from Him alone comes all wisdom. We ask Him to lead us into all understanding, to show us the meaning behind the night-time parable with heaven’s perspective, and to lead us into an obedient response. He is faithful and will not turn away wisdom from those who ask for it with faith. He will often show us parts to the meaning of the dream in the following days and months, as He is always with us, speaking to us in many ways.

from the father’s love

No matter what kind of dream or night time attack you are facing, we always approach interpretation and solutions from the place of knowing we are loved by our Father God. Some dreams give warning, exposure or correction, so it is vital that we know our identity as the beloved son or daughter before taking on interpretation. It is of utmost importance that we see that the message is coming from the love and protective nature of our Good Father.

Valuing the Treasure

In Matthew 25, Jesus tells his disciples a parable of three servants who have an opportunity to multiply the treasure they are given. Two multiply their gift, and one simply hides it in the ground in fear. This parable teaches the power of valuing the treasure we are given from God.

Dreams are treasures.

This is one of the most important precepts of dream interpretation. Each time we value the message that He is giving, we are multiplying our spiritual understanding and, consequentially, multiplying the gift He has given us to use for His kingdom.

embracing dream language

Just as God spoke to His prophets and people throughout the Old Testament mainly through parabolic visions and dreams, Jesus also spoke mainly in parables when He taught.

It is the same with dreams.

Jesus gives the reason in Matthew 13: Your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear. The understanding of dreams can only come by the spiritual vision and hearing that comes from Him. Therein the Dream-Giver is the only qualified Dream-Interpreter. In seeking and pursuing HIM, we will see the vision plainly.

The Lord also explains that there is glory and favor in our seeking and in the process itself: It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the glory of kings to search it out (Proverbs 25:2). Only the truly wise will operate like kings in the earth by pursuing truth, and they will find the treasure of Christ.
